Chief Executive's comment: As you all know by now, Pobl Cymru has absolutely no political agenda whatsoever. We recieve no funding from Government or any political party. This means, we can praise ot criticise as we see fit. We have always done this and will continue to do so.

It is against this backdrop that I find it an absolute national disgrace at the way the sick and disabled are being treated in this Country by the current Government. At Pobl Cymru we are seeing an increasing number of Claimants and their worried families who are facing cuts in their benefits. Think about that for a moment. Cuts in their benefits. We are not talking about people who are earning fortunes. We are talking about people who, through no fault of their own, have found themselves on benefits and at a low ebb. Many actually want to work, but their medical conditions mean that they cannot.

I find it disturbing that rather than offering more assistance to these people, we seem to be content to offer them less. Where is the outcry? Where is the fairness that our Politicians seems to say we lead the world in? How may voted to cut the Employment Support Allowance? If anyone can help me understand why it was a good idea to do this then please let me know as I would dearly love to understand.

How can it be that we can find the money for war, or to send to other nations in foreign aid? yet suddenly when it comes to the sick and disabled of this Country, we are told that there is no money in the pot and that we are 'all in this together'. Well I am not in anything that takes money from the most vulnerable in Society. Many of whom do not have the resources to defend themselves.

Please continue to raise these issues with your elected representatives. Doing nothing is no longer an option. We must stand up and be counted. Do not look down on someone unless you are helping them up.

Was so good to help several families yesterday with some food. We are so humbled to be able to help them. We were amazed at how thankful they were. THAT my friends is what makes it all worthwhile for us. THAT is what tru Charity should be about. No big salaries to Chief Execs and Managers, no swanky offices, no political bias. Just pure unadulterated PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE. If you would like to get involved with us and feel you have a few hours a week to spare then please contact us. Bring some ideas and lets see if we can use them. ... See MoreSee Less

Do you know someone who would benefit from having some free food? Pobl Cymru, in Partnership with Tesco and the Foodshare programme are recipients of food each week under the partnership scheme. Contact us and let us know. There are no strings. All we ask is that the people we help are in genuine need. This is not a food bank.

Food is usually available from our office at the YMCA in Neath on either a Monday or Tuesday morning. Message for further details.
