Introduction to the Mental Health Act 1983

The main objective of this course is to give delegates a basic understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 and subsequent legislative amendments.

It will cover such elements as:

  • The Mental Capacity Act and also the importance of the Human Rights Act.
  • The various types of  workers who are given authority in law by the act
  • The processes employed in the assessment of mental health act assessments.
  • The issues surrounding what is known as ‘Mental capacity’ and safeguarding issues in respect of the same.
  • Mental Health Tribunals
